An 11-year-old girl has recounted before Magistrate Albert J. Moody of the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No. 2 how she was sexually abused allegedly by one Amadu Bangura of Goderich.

In her testimony in court on Friday (April 24), the victim narrated that on 18 March this year, she went to fetch water when the accused gave her a cup to bring him water.

“I was about to give the water to the accused when he drew me inside his tele-centre and forcefully pushed me to the ground. He removed my pants, unzipped his trousers and forced his penis into my vagina,” she explained in tears.

The disconsolate girl further told the court that she started bleeding from her vagina immediately after the accused had finished raping her. “My father was later informed about the incident,” she said.

The matter was reported to the Goderich police station and a medical paper was issued to the girl’s father to take her to the Rainbow Center at the Princess Christian Maternity Hospital (commonly known as Cottage) on Fourah Bay Road for treatment, the girl added.

“The medical paper was taken back to the police station and a statement was obtained from me by the police,” she said.

The accused, Amadu Bangura, was arraigned on one count of sexual penetration of a child.

According to police prosecutor Inspector Malik Barrie, the accused on 18 March at Freetown Road, Goderich in the York Rural District, sexually penetrated a child under the age of 18 years, to wit 11 years.

The matter continues on May 1.
