As Teenage Pregnancy, early marriage and rape become major problems among young girls in the country, Fullness of Life for Children Management Program, over the weekend organised awareness and sensitization campaign match for pupils, youths and okada riders against teenage pregnancy, early marriage, rape and another form of child abuse in Moyamba town.
Speaking during the sensitization match, Coordinator of Fullness of Life for Children Management Program, Sister Rita Ogbusu, said report has shown that Moyamba District has been on record as one of the districts with the highest level of teenage pregnancy in the Country, regardless of the district having forty education and rehabilitation of teenage mother’s centers.
She said the campaign started last Thursday and Friday with an hour radio discussion on sex education, teenage pregnancy, girl-child and other forms of child abuse by members of the Child’s Right Watch Club of St. Joseph’s Vocational Secondary in Moyamba.
Sister Rita said all the activities and campaign against teenage Pregnancy, Girl Child Marriage and other forms of Child abuse were being organized by Fullness of Life for Children Management Program and sponsored by Misean Cara Ireland and NLW Germany.
Addressing pupils at the end of Campaign, Assistant Superintendent of Police at the Moyamba Police Station, Mrs. Fallay, advised and encouraged them to focus on their studies rather on harmful and destructive sexual practices that would distract them from their School work and subsequently drops-out.
She therefore urged them to pay more attention to their education, noting that education was key to human knowledge, growth and development.
