The Prosperity Girls High School, Rotifunk, Bumpeh Chiefdom, Moyamba district, last Sunday ended their third annual inter-house sports meeting on the high, with lots of talents spotted to the admiration of several dignitaries who were present.
The Sports meet which attracted the Ikeli High Schools from Norway ended up with Vest-Westerners crowned champions after an aggregate score of 536 points. SQR-Southerners took second position with 486 points whilst Nord-Northerners scored 320 points in third and fourth position was QST-Easterners with 292 points.
The two-day meet saw athletes compete in several events including the mask devil competition, traditional wrestling, and clock face and freeing the prisoners, which were unique events.
On the final day, the Ikeli side participated in a 200m relay race with Maria Loken clocking 12.36 to the finish line to mark the beginning of an interesting history. They also took part in the burning of the Olympic torch, the walking race, bicycle race and tug of peace.
Rosaline Kaimbay, the school’s Principal, said she was pleased with the turnout of high caliber of personalities and further thanked the proprietor, Alton Bendu, and Paramount Chief of Rotifunk, Charles Caulker, and the Ikeli delegation for their huge support in making the school the number one girls’ school in the district.
