NOVEMBER 13, 2014 By Hawa Amara

Prison Officer James Toby was yesterday remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road for an alleged sexual penetration of a girl, 11.

The accused was arraigned at the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.2, presided over by Magistrate Komba Kamanda, on one count of sexual penetration, contrary to section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act No.12 of 2012.

Police Prosecutor Sergeant 5984 I. G. Fofanah said that the correctional officer was caught in the act while sexually penetrating the girl on 26th October 2014 at Beccle Lane, Brookfields, west of Freetown.

Sergeant Fofanah requested for an adjournment to enable her interview the witness, and assured the magistrate that she would be ready to open her case at subsequent hearing.

Magistrate Kamanda upheld her request and refused the accused bail.
