Police tenders exhibit against town chief

Town Chief of Mile 36 Village was on Wednesday, March  23, 2022, taken to court by one Pastor Paul Morris for allegedly destroying his church.

The accused, Santigie Manika Kamara, appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of  the Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on two counts ranging from trespass contrary to Section 15 (1) of the Public Order Act No 46 of 1965, to malicious damage contrary to Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act of 1861.

The accused  was alleged to have on Thursday, 20th August, 2021,at Mile 36 Village, Koya Chiefdom, Port Loko District, did unlawfully enters the land of the complainant when required not to do so.

It was alleged that the accused on the same date and place maliciously damaged a concrete church structure valued thirty million, eight hundred and thirty five thousand Leones, property of Deeper Life Bible Church.

Prosecution witness No.6, Sergeant 9182 Mohamed Sorie Mansaray attached to the Criminal Investigations Department, Mile 38 Police Station said he knew the complainant in the matter  and recalled on the 20th August 2021.

He said on that day he was on duty at the said police station when the complainant made a report against the accused person.

He narrated that himself and the complainant went to the scene of crime and that on their arrival, the complainant directed him to a building that was under construction, but was totally damaged.

 He said the walls under construction were broken apart and that he took out his Tecno Spark 5 phone and took photograph of the crime scene.

The Tecno Spark 5 mobile phone were produced and tendered in court and marked as Exhibit E1-4 

The witness was cross examined by defense counsel T, Beah and the magistrate adjourned the matter to the 5th April 2021, for further hearing
