Orange Money: a leader in cashless transfers in Salone

Leading telecommunications company in Sierra Leone, Orange is now leading the way in digitalizing cash transfers by creating a platform for customers access their money at anytime and anywhere.

With its Orange Money Wallet service it has collaborated with up to six banks in Sierra Leone to give customers access to their bank accounts and transfer cash from their accounts to their Orange Money Wallet, and back.

“The service is easy, you can link your bank account to Orange Money and you will be able to transfer money to your Orange Money Wallet from your account. You will also be able to transfer money from your wallet to your account. It is as simple as that,” the Orange Money Department said.

Orange customers who are banking with Ecobank, Sierra Leone Commercial Bank, United Bank of Africa (UBA), Rokel Commercial Bank, Access Bank and Zenith Bank have access to link their accounts and withdraw or deposit money from anywhere across the country.

“What this has done, is that even people who are in the rural areas will have access to their money, especially in places where your bank doesn’t have a branch,” an official from the department said.

Sierra Leone is on the verge of digitalizing its banking sector and increasing cashless transfers, Orange Money’s integration of accounts and wallets have made the company a pioneer in digitalizing the finance sector in Sierra Leone.

The company is looking to extend its collaboration with more banks to ensure more customers can have access to cash at anytime and anywhere.
