AWOL feeds, awards 300 scholarship to pupils

The All Works of Life (AWOL) , would celebrate the African Childs Day with pupils where they would provide food, refreshment, entertainment and scholarships that would cover fees, uniforms and learning materials to selected primary school pupils in Marampa, Port Loko District and Gondama, Bo District.

The organisation would celebrate the Day of the African Child (DAC) 2017 with school children in the North and South of the country with the theme: ‘Our Children, Our Hope’.

According to a press release dated 15 June, 2017, the school feeding and awards program for 2017 would target 1000 school children in the southern and northern provinces respectively.

The release stated that scholarships would be awarded to 150 pupils in Gondama and 150 in Marampa.

The release said AWOL would recommence work on the completion of its school project which would be named after the organisation’s late godfather, Amb. Moseray Gibril Fadika.

AWOL’s Chairman, Amb. Anthony Navo Jnr. said that he hoped the programme would inspire school pupils to work hard and aspire for higher heights.

“The value of education to the development of any nation cannot be overemphasized. We hope that even our presence as AWOL members will inspire the children to work hard and focus on their education,” says Amb. Navo Jnr.

They said the school feeding and awards program was introduced in 2007 and has since been an important annual event in its calendar of activities, adding that over the years they have reached out to school children in many deprived communities across the country, including Kroo Bay and Mabella in Freetown.

The release stated that AWOL would join other organizations as they celebrate the uniqueness and achievements of Sierra Leonean’s  children and affirm their faith in the possibilities of the children’s future; and the future of the country.
