NGO worker granted 1million bail for felony

37-year-old Baimba Thoronka made an appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngeba of Court No:1 and was granted bail.

The accused person is standing trial on three count charges to wit conspiracy to commit a felony, accessory before the fact and accessory before the fact.

The indictment was read out to him by the court registrar.

It was alleged that on Sunday 26th February, 2023, at White Tank, Rokel  Village, the accused conspired with someone unknown to commit felony.

It was also alleged that on the above same date and place the accused did counsel, procure and command one Ibrahim Bah to commit larceny.

It was also further alleged that on the same date and place the accused received, comforted, harboured, assisted and maintained the said Ibrahim Bah.

The prosecution witness was present, but sought for an adjourned date for her to have proper conference with her witness.

Meanwhile, the defence counsel applied for a bail saying that the accused person is a family man, and that he will not tamper with prosecution witnesses and will be available whenever he is called upon in court.

The magistrate granted him bail in the sum of one thousand new Leones and one surety, who must be a holder of the new National  Identity card with the file verified by the Bench.
