Newspaper Vendors get new chairman

The Sierra Leone Newspaper Vendors Association Sunday, November 24, elected Saidu Turay as their new chairman.

In his victory speech, Turay expressed delight for being elected to the position, adding that he was ready to work with members.

He applauded members for reposing trust in him by electing him chairman, promising to do his best and making sure he serves the interest of members.

The newly elected chairman noted that he had done a lot for the association before now, adding “I promise to do more in the capacity as chairman of the association.”

He said winning the election did not come as a surprise to him, and that he would make sure that vendors get the respect they deserve.

He promised to work with his opponent, Raymond Sesay, because “I believe that working together will help promote the affairs of the association.”

Meanwhile, Raymond Sesay conceded defeat and congratulated the newly elected chairman, thus promising to work hand-in-glove with the winner in promoting the affairs of the association.

Outgone Chairman, Lahai Bangura, expressed delight that the election was conducted in a peaceful atmosphere.

He called on the incoming chairman to work in the interest of the membership and take the association to another level.
