The newly elected President of the Sierra Leone Swimming, Diving and Water Polo Association (SLSWDA), Rev. George Spilsbury-Williams, has pledged to include more women in the Association.

He was speaking during his endorsement by executive members of the Association at the National Stadium swimming pool last week.

After his endorsement, Rev. Silsbury-Williams thanked God Almighty for the new position, adding that so long as members of the Association had bestowed trust in him, he would work hard to development sport by include more women.

“I am going to work hard to incorporate more women in the Association before the next election in June, and I will also encourage them to go for executive positions. Presently, we have few women in the Association, which is discouraging. Bringing more women in the Association is my top priority,” he declared.

Secretary-General of the Association, Mohamed Turay, said that the Association had deemed it prudent to regularise the status of the Acting President to full President, after the death of former president, Dr. A.T. Fadlu-Deen.
