MR Distilleries (SL) Ltd has presented assorted food and non-food items worth millions of Leones to the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs, Mustapha Bai Attila, for onward distribution to kids that have survived the Ebola virus disease.
According to the company’s General Manager, Mahideer Reedy, the donation was part of their corporate social responsibility as well as complementing government’s effort in catering for Ebola kid survivors.
“One of our aims is to help sensitize residents within the Wellington Industrial Estate and its immediate environs on Ebola prevention and control. The items donated will help Ebola kid survivors have something to eat,” Reedy said, adding that they were not oblivious of the grim fact that the deadly Ebola virus disease has claimed the lives of thousands of Sierra Leoneans, including children.
Receiving the food items, Deputy Social Welfare Minister, Mustapha Bai Attila, commended the company for their support to government’s efforts since the virus broke out in May 2014.
“Let me commend you for providing food and non-food items to Ebola survival kids. My ministry appreciates your timely intervention to cater for Ebola kid survivors,” he said and urged them to continue their philanthropy.
