Michael Family donates to EducAid SL

July 1, 2015 By: Sahr Morris Jr.

The Michael Family on Monday (June 29) presented food items worth millions of Leones to EducAid SL – one of the four orphanages benefiting from their monthly subvention situated at Sheriff Drive, off Regent Road, Lumley.

The items, which include 50 bags of rice, 15 cartons of sardine, two cartons of tomato paste and 10 gallons of cooking oil, were presented by Martin Edmond Michael, the Managing Director of Mercury International.

According to Mr. Michael, EducAid SL is one of the four orphanages receiving a monthly contribution of five million Leones from the Michael Family for a period of one year.

He said he was impressed with what he saw at the EducAid SL Center, noting that they will find ways to continue their support towards the institution when the monthly endowment concludes in December this year.

“What I’ve seen here is unbelievable, I have no regret in embarking on such a drive and I wish to do more,” said Mr. Michael. “These people need more help and what I’ve seen today is an eye opener and it shows how our brothers and sisters are suffering and need help.”

Country Director of EducAid SL, Marian Mason-Sesay, said she was surprised by the Michael Family gesture, adding that their invitation to Mr. Michael was for him to have a feel of the mood at the school’s campus and see how they work to cater for both the physical and educational needs of the less privilege children.

Director Mason-Sesay expressed thanks and appreciation to the Michael Family “for such a wonderful and unexpected gesture”. She informed the visitor that EducAid SL is also operating in the provinces with over 2,700 pupils under their hospices nationwide.

She said at EducAid, they are not asking for financial school charges but only “excellent attention, excellent behaviour and excellent effort”.
