Mathainah PHU in need of help

September 23, 2015 By Regina Pratt

Credible sources from Mathainah village, Masimera Chiefdom in the Port Loko District have told this medium that pregnant and suckling mothers are in dire need of medical supplies.

Thus residents have called on the government and health development partners to help them build a clinic in a bid to alleviate maternal and newborn health challenges.

The maternal and child health aide in the village, Hawa Sesay, also urged the Ministry of Health and Sanitation and health partners to transform the former isolation centre into a waiting room as the nearest referral clinic is approximately 9 miles away, thus making the journey a difficult one for especially pregnant women and suckling mothers.

“We need items like refrigerator, motorbike, and corrugated iron sheets to repair the isolation centre so that we can expand our facilities. We also need medicines for suckling mothers, under five children and pregnant women,” said Nurse Sesay.
