Man remanded for urinating, defecating in public places

Presiding Magistrate of Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.2, Hannah Bonnie, on Monday 21st August, 2017, remanded one Santigie Bangura to the Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.

Santigie Bangura was arraigned on two count charges of defecating and urinating in an unauthorized place, contrary to Regulation 4(1) (g) of the Freetown City Council prohibited place bye-laws of 2010.

The prosecution alleges that on Wednesday 16th August, 2017, the Freetown City Council Metropolitan Police Officers arrested the convict, while urinating and defecating at Sani Abacha Street in the eastern part of Freetown.

The accused person pleaded not guilty on count one (defecating) and guilty on count two (urinating).

He told the Bench that the place where he was arrested was full of human excrete which the Metropolitan police alleged was his.

He was not granted bail and his matter adjourned to 31st August, 2017.
