Man remanded for penetrating stepdaughter

Thirty-two year old Mohamed Bangura was arrested and brought before Magistrate Abdul Sheriff of Siaka Steven Street court No.7 for allegedly penetrating his thirteen years old step daughter.

The accused person was before the court to answer to the offence of sexual penetration contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offence Act No.12 of 2012 and incest contrary to Section 10 (1) of the same Act.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused person from 1st to 31st August, 2017, at Sesay Drive,Hamilton, sexually penetrated his thirteen years old stepdaughter.

In her testimony, the victim told the court that she recognised the accused person as her stepfather and recalled that on the dates of the incidence, her mother went to the Beach to buy some fish and left her with the accused person at home.

She explained that the accused person called her to his bedroom and that she dashed into the room thinking that the accused wanted to send her on an errand.

“When I entered the room, he asked me to sit on the bed, undressed himself and asked me to remove my dress and he penetrated me,” she said.

After the accused finished penetrating her, she saw blood oozing out of her vagina and that the accused wiped it with a cloth and took it outside.

The victim told the court that when her mother returned from Beach, she reported the incident to her, but she didn’t believe her neither did she questioned her husband (the accused).

She further explained that on another occasion, when her mother went to Dove Cot market, her stepfather barged into her room and penetrated her, and that  she did not bordered telling her mother because she would not care.

“I was afraid to tell my mother because she would flog me or would say I want to destroy her marriage,” she narrated, adding,  “My brother noticed that my stepfather was treating me with difference and always disagree with me in whatever I do. He later told my aunt about my stubbornness and my aunty summoned me and I explained what had happened between me and my stepfather,”

She testified that her aunt later told her mother who reported the matter to  Congo Cross police station where they were issued with a medical request form.

Meanwhile, the accused person was committed to High Court without bail.
