One Tesline Wilson was yesterday remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road for the alleged sexual penetration of a 14-year-old girl.
The accused was arraigned on one count of sexual penetration contrary to section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act of 2012.
According to police prosecutor Inspector May, the accused had sexual intercourse with the teenager on 30 January, 2015 at No.8 Rowan Street, Fourah Bay, east of the capital.
In her testimony, the victim’s mother, Isha Jalloh, told the court that on the day of the incident she gave the victim wares to sell. She said two boys subsequently met her at her place of business and informed her that the accused was with the victim in his room.
“Upon that information I went to the accused person’s house and saw my daughter’s slippers in front of his door. I hit the door very hard for sometimes before he opened it; he then grabbed me for a fight,” she told the court. “We continued the fight in his room and fell on my daughter who was covered with some of the accused cloth.”
Ms. Jalloh continued that some area boys came to her aid and she later reported the matter to the police, who obtained a statement from her and the victim.
She said the police issued her a medical paper for the victim to be treated at the Rainbow Centre at Cottage hospital where victims of sexual violence go for specialist treatment.
The witness was also cross-examined by defence counsel E.T. Koroma.
The matter was adjourned to 9 March.
