Man remanded for abusing boy, 17

Yusuf Kenny, a tailor at Mount Aureol Terrace, east of Freetown, was yesterday remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road for an alleged sexual penetration of a 17-year- old boy.

The accused was arraigned at the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.2 presided over by Magistrate Albert J. Moody on one count of sexual penetration of a child, contrary to section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act of 2012.

According to police prosecutor, Inspector S. Conteh, the accused sexually penetrated the teenage boy on 4 May, 2015 at Mount Aureol Terrace.

Inspector Conteh informed the court that the victim was in court but that he was yet to talk to him, thus pleaded with the magistrate to adjourn the matter.

The magistrate granted his wish and adjourned until 5 June.

In another matter before the same magistrate, one James Amadu Turay was also remanded at the Male Correctional Center after his arraignment for an alleged sexual penetration of a sixteen year-old girl.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused committed the act on 3 May, 2015 at New Camp, Grafton in the Western Rural District.

The matter was also adjourned to 5 June when the prosecution is expected to open their case.
