Magistrate Abdul Sheriff, presiding at the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.1, yesterday (Tuesday 17 April) remanded one Gabriel Bangura to the Male Correctional Centre for alleged sexual penetration of a four year old girl.
The accused person was charged with one count of sexual penetration of a child, contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offense Act No.12 of 2012.
Police Prosecutor, Sergeant 8534 Sesay G., alleges that the accused person on Sunday, 4th February, 2018 at Kroo Bay in Freetown, sexually penetrated a child below the age of 18 years, to wit four years.
In her testimony, the victim noted that she recognised the accused as their neighbour and recalled on the day of the alleged incident while she was at home.
She testified that the accused invited her behind the house, removed her pant and inserted her erected penis into her virgina.
She further told the court that after the accused had sexual intercourse with her, she felt some pain and saw blood oozing from her virgina.
The victim told the court that they were caught in the act, while the matter was reported to the Central Police Station where she was issued with a medical form.
She said they went to the Rainbow Centre at the Princess Christian Maternity Hospital for treatment and returned to the police station to make a statement.
The accused person didn’t have legal representation.
Magistrate Sheriff adjourned the matter to Wednesday, 18th April.
