Thirty-one year old Manfred Cole was on Wednesday remanded for sexually penetrating a girl below eighteen years (18) to wit seven years.
The accused was before the court on one count of sexual penetration of a child contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act No. 12 of 2012.
The prosecution alleges that Manfred Cole on Sunday, 4th March, 2017 at Bowen Street, Wellington, sexually penetrated a girl under the age of eighteen years to wit seven years.
He was refused bail and sent to the Male Correctional Centre and the matter adjourned to Thursday, 11 May, 2017.
In a related matter, one Hassan Bangura, a ‘Poda-poda’ driver was yesterday sent to the Male Correctional Centre by Magistrate Abou Bakarr Binneh-Kamara of Court No.1 for an alleged sexual penetration of a thirteen year old girl.
The accused was arraigned before the court on one count of sexual penetration of a child contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act No. 12 of 2012.
The particulars of offence state that on a date between 1st January and 30th September, 2016, at Back of Indian Temple, off Wilkinson Road, the accused sexually penetrated a girl under the consent age of eighteen to wit thirteen years.
In her testimony, the victim said she recalled knowing the accused as a Poda-Poda driver that was offering her a ride.
She explained that she was coming from school to see her mother and because it was difficult to get a vehicle, the accused saw her and decided to give her a ride and also offered her half of the rubber drink he was drinking.
“After drinking the rubber drink, I started feeling dizzy with my head turning and I fell asleep. I later woke up in the bedroom of the accused (Hassan Bangura) and saw white liquid on my private part with blood also coming out from my virgina. I dressed up and went home,” she testified.
The victim told the court that upon arriving home, her father saw her walking in a strange way and asked her what the problem was.
“I told my father exactly what I discovered on me. She took me to the Goderich police station where I was given a medical request form and made statement, and then proceeded to Rainbow centre at Cottage Hospital,” she added.
The matter was adjourned to Friday 5th May, 2017.
