26-year-old Sorie Kamara, a resident of Regent Community, have been denied bail and sent to the Male Correctional Centre for allegedly sexually penetrating a three years old girl.
Kamara was arraigned before Magistrate Abou Bakar Binneh-Kamara at Court No. 1 on one count charge of sexual penetration of a child contrary to Section 19 of Sexual Offences Act of 2012.
The statement of Offence alleges that the accused on Monday, 27th March, 2017, at Regent community, did engage in an act of sexual penetration with a child below the age of consent to wit three (3) years.
In a related matter, one Raymond Johnson was also sent to the Male Correctional Centre for an alleged sexual penetration of a girl under eighteen (18) years to wit sixteen (16) years.
The accused was arraigned on two count charges of sexual penetration of a child contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act No.12 of 2012 and harbouring contrary to Section 20 (1) (b) of the Prevention of Cruelty Act (Cap 31) of the laws of Sierra Leone.
The prosecution alleged that Raymond Johnson between Sunday, 27th February and 15th November, 2016, sexually penetrated a girl below the age of eighteen (18) to wit sixteen (16) years, and on the same date harboured a girl under the age of eighteen (18) to wit sixteen (16) years.
Both matters were adjourned to 4th May, 2017.
Also, one Alimamy Kamara was denied bail and remanded for wounding with intent, wounding and assault contrary to law.
The particulars of offence stated that on Friday 14th April, 2017, Alimamy Kamara wounded Alie Kamara with intent by doing him grievous bodily harm, wounding contrary to Section 20 of the Offences Against the Persons Act of 1861 and assault occasioning to bodily harm contrary to Section 47 of the offences against the Persons Act. On the same date, Alimamy Kamara assaulted Alie Kamara in a manner, thereby occasioning to actual body harm.
The accused was represented by lawyer A.K. Kargbo, who applied for bail and stated that the accused was a Sierra Leonean with a permanent abode and deserved bail.
However, the accused was denied bail and sent to the Male Correctional Centre. The matter comes up today.
