Sunsan’s Bay fire victims on Sunday received some million Leones worth food and non- food items, including clothing and learning materials from the Limkokwing University of Innovation and Technology.

Over four hundred pupils attending  both Primary to secondary schools received learning materials from the University.

The donation was made possible through the right thinking of some student ambassadors, who thought it as humane to come to the aid of the victims, who were rendered homeless by an inferno.

Before donating the items, dozens of affected children were engaged in a drama of song and dance initiated by the Guardian and Counsellor of the Limkokwing University, Madam Haja Aminata Kamara.

The short but excited drama was employed as an innovative means of letting the children and other affected fire victims put behind their sorrows.

Senior Administrator of the University,Aruna Bai Kabia, told the gathering that they were at the community to share and sypathise with the fire victims, as well as help them rebuild their lives after the fire disaster, which  negatively affected them in diverse ways.

Abdul Conteh, who is a senior Lecturer at the university, said the founder of Limkokwing believes that education is not only limited to the classroom, but also involves offering humanitarian services to people in need, as well contributing to the development of communities through innovative means.

He said the donation was made possible through an approved project initiated  by Student Ambassadors, who though it fit to come to the aid of the fire victims, adding  that it was a unique way the university used to help in rebuilding the lives of the Susan’s Bay fire victims.

Councillor Madinatu Kamara of Ward 377, Susan’s Bay community thanked the University for coming to the aid of the fire victims and called on other universities to emulate the good work of Limkokwing University.
