Leone Stars striker misses IFK Norrköping trials

June 17, 2016 By Sahr Morris Jr.

Leone Stars striker Sheka Fofonah reportedly missed his planned trial with Swedish Allsvenskan league Champions, IFK Norrköping on Thursday.

According to Swedish based NT.se, the reigning Swedish champions were expecting to have striker in their squad for the U-21 match against AIK on Thursday but he was not available.

Confirming the player’s absence to NT, IFK Norrköping manager Jens Gustafsson said it was due to slight delay in visa issue.

“I would have seen him in the AIK match but right now it does not look like it will happen,” says Gustafsson to the NT on Tuesday afternoon, adding that “There are problems with getting visas clearance.”

In an exclusive interview with Concord Sports, the player’s agent, Chernor Musa Jalloh, said difficulty to secure an interview date with the Swedish Embassy in Abuja was the problem, adding that they have succeeded in having a date for the interview.

He said: “We already have a date for him now. The player will depart Freetown anytime from now for Abjua and after securing the visa he will head directly to Sweden.”

Earlier, it was rumored that there was a transfer tussle between Freetown City FC and Giant of Grassfield United over the ownership of the player, but the Sierra Leone super-agent declined to comment on the said issue.
