Le15m bail for fraudster

 Magistrate Steven Conteh of the Freetown Magistrates Court No.1 yesterday granted Le15 million bail to one Mohamed Bah who was alleged to have defrauded Aminata Kamara of the sum of Le7 million.

The accused was arraigned on one count of fraudulent conversion contrary to section 1 (iv) (6) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused in July 2012 at No.49 Kissy Road in Freetown, fraudulently converted to his use or benefit twenty-five (25) Bamako suits valued at Le7.9 million, which was entrusted to him by the complainant for the purpose of sale.

Magistrate Conteh granted bail on condition of one surety in like sum and that the bail should be approved by the acting Deputy Master and Registrar. The matter was adjourned to 20 January.

In another development in the same court, the presiding magistrate also remanded one Alieu Dumbuya at the maximum security prisons on Pademba Road for allegedly stealing a handbag containing the sum of Le400,000, and one Samsung mobile phone valued at Le150,000, with both items amounting to Le550,000.

The matter was adjourned to 9 January.
