Law Enforcement Academy commences Certificate courses

Head of Media and Public Relations in the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) Force, Supt. Brima Kamara, has stated that the Sierra Leone Peacekeeping and Law Enforcement Academy (SILEA), will commence Certificate courses during the 2019/2020 academic year.

Supt. Brima Kamara, popularly called “Media One”, was speaking exclusively in his George Street office in Freetown on Thursday, 18th July, 2019.

“When we started SILEA in Hastings, we were only offering Diploma courses but we are beginning Certificate courses this academic year. At the moment, there are 50 students in the Academy. Seven of them are police officers and the remaining ones are civilians,” he said.

He disclosed that the Academy is an affiliate to both the University of Sierra Leone (USL) and Njala University.

“The courses include Diploma and Certificate in Security and Safety, Diploma and Certificate in Civil Aviation and Airport Security, Diploma and Certificate in International Peacekeeping in Conflict Emergencies. Those offering the Certificate courses would do only one year and two years for those offering Diploma courses,” he explained.

The SLP Media One said applicants wishing to pursue Certificate courses must have three (3) credits in the West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) and those applying for the Diploma courses must have four (4) credits in WASSCE.
