Pathologist says deceased died of stab wound

Sierra Leone Government Pathologist, Dr. Simon Owizz Koroma, yesterday told the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.2, presided over by Magistrate Albert J. Moody that Antony Gray, who was murdered at Kroo Bay by three accused persons died of stab wound.
Dr. Koroma told the court that on 1 January, 2015 he received the remains of the deceased, Anthony Gray, at the Connaught hospital mortuary.
He said on 16 January, 2015, on the instruction of the Chief Medical Officer and a request from the coroner, he carried out a post-mortem examination on the remains of the deceased, which was identified by one Abu Bakarr Kamara, uncle of the deceased, and resident of No.54 Brook Street, Detective Sergeant 13098 Kamara A.M., Detective Sergeant 7822 Koroma B.C., both attached at the Central Police Station.
“On the conclusion of the post-mortem examination on the remains of the 24-year-old deceased of No.4 Naimbana Street, I reduced my finding to autopsy report which was all signed and dated by me and since then it has been in my custody,” revealed the pathologist.
Dr. Owizz informed the court that the medical death certificate was issued to relatives of the murder victim, while a photo copy was handed over to the police. He said the remains of the deceased was also handed over to relatives for burial.
He said the deceased died of neurogenic shock due to spinal cord injury as a result of a fracture of cervical vertebrate caused by a blunt force injury.
He said the deceased suffered acute hemorrhagic shock due to stab wound on his back.
He was cross-examined by defence counsel F.B. Conteh.
The matter was adjourned to 26 May for further hearing.
The accused persons, Sheika Sesay, Issac Williams and Philip Daramy, were arraigned on two counts of conspiracy to wit murder, contrary to law and murder contrary to law.
According to the police prosecutor Inspector Michael Kelly Dumbuya, the accused on 1 January, 2015 murdered the deceased.
