Kei Kamara: I’m weighing offers from Europe & USA

SEPTEMBER 26, 2014 By Sahr Morris Jnr

Sierra Leonean international and free agent Kei Ansu Kamara says several clubs in Europe and USA have shown interest in signing him but he’s not in a rush to decide where to play.

The 30-year old is currently without a club after his contract with English second tier league side Middlesbrough was terminated by mutual consent last month.

“I have offers from several clubs in England, Turkey, Greece and USA, but I’m weighing my options to see what is best for me and my family,” Kamara told sierraleonefootball.com.

The Leone Stars assistant captain added: “I’m not in a rush to make a decision. It’s good to be free agent as I have control in my hand. When the time is ripe I’ll choose the right club and obviously it’s going to be soon or in January.”

The former Norwich City and Sporting Kansas City forward was happy to have the chance to play for Middlesbrough but believes it was right for him to move on.

He said: “It was good to have the opportunity to play for a club like Middlesbrough. But it came to a point when me and the club have to separate and I have to move on. I didn’t see my future with the club and we both agreed to part company mutually. It has nothing to do with my tweets.”

Kamara was invited for Leone Stars last two games in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Ivory Coast in Abidjan and Democratic Republic of Congo in Lubumbashi earlier this month despite being without a club.

He scored Leone Stars’ only goal against Ivory Coast in a 2-1 defeat and captained the team against DR Congo, a match they lost 2-0.
