Kamboi Eagles defeat ASO Chlef but crash out

February 23, 2015 By Sahr Morris Jr.

Kamboi Eagles of Sierra Leone on Friday defeated their Algeria opponents ASO Chlef 1-0 in their return leg tie of the CAF Confederations Cup in Algeria.

However, the Sierra Leone FA Cup winners’ slender 1-0 win was not enough for them to progress to the next round of the tournament after losing the first leg 2-0. The Eagles have thereby been eliminated on 2-1 aggregate.

Sierra Leone’s representatives at the CAF tourney could have hosted the Algerians in Freetown but were unable to do so due to the Ebola outbreak which saw the continental football governing body CAF suspending the country from hosting any international matches on home soul.

Despite missing the opportunity to play at home, the Eagles have bowed out of the tournament with their heads up, thanks to their skipper Badara Kellah’s 23rd minute strike.

According to dzfoot.com, the Eagles were able to hold on to the first half lead despite the Algerian side dominating the game throughout the second half.
