Sierra Leone national 100 and 200 meters sprint champion, Ishamail D.M. Kamara, retained his titles over the weekend at the Bo City Stadium, clocking a time of 10.58 seconds and 21.63 seconds respectively in the 100 and 200 metres.
The 19-year-old sprinter from Makeni City is scheduled to now compete at the West African Junior Championships in June and the World U-20 Championships in Poland this July.
After achieving success, Kamara said he was not pleased with his timing, adding that he could have done better had he not been hampered by a hamstring injury which had plagued his training for most of the season.
Kamara was followed in close second by Vivian Williams of Freetown in both the 100 and 200 meters.
Elsewhere, Sierra Leone United States based youngster Keyera Koroma won bronze medal after finishing in 3rd place at Texas High Schools (UIL) State Championships 200 metres dash for girls.
She also finished 6th out of 9 finalists in the 100 meters in the championship.
