Sierra Leone football legend, Mohamed Kallon and his former Inter Milan teammate, Nicola Ventola were both recognised and presented with commemorative shirts on Sunday in front of the Inter faithful at the Meazza Stadium.
The pair was presented with commemorative shirts and an Inter Milan carved badge just before the Serie A clash between Inter Milan and Fiorentina.
According to the club’s website, Kallon and Ventola also presented awards to five Inter Clubs who were invited to the Meazza to celebrate their respective birthdays: Inter Club San Donà di Piave (50), Inter Club Sant’Agata di Militello (30), Inter Club Acerra (25), Inter Club Davoli (10), and Inter Club Malo (10).
“Once an Interista, always an Interista,” reads a message on the Inter website.
Inter Forever reunited the Nerazzurri’s strike partnership from the 2001/02 season, as they presented their two former strikers with commemorative shirts at the Meazza, featuring the numbers they wore during their spells at the club: 3 for Mohamed, 78 for Nicola.
Before Sunday’s match, the two appeared on the Inter Channel show on Saturday and were asked series of questions about the 2001/02 season and their plans for the future.
At the show, Kallon applauded the Inter Forever tournament in China, which he was part of, whilst Ventola echoed his sentiments saying: “We’ll try and recreate the Ventola-Kallon strike force for Inter Forever too. It would be just like 2001/02.”
