Wife granted Le40m bail
NOVEMBER 3, 2014 By Hassan Gbassay Koroma
Magistrate Komba Kamanda of the Freetown Magistrates Court No.2 last Friday granted Le40 million bail to Hajaratu Bangura, who was alleged to have conspired with her younger brother Amara to steal the whopping sum of Le1.42 billion from her spouse, Adekaly Bangura.
She gained her freedom following another request by defence counsel J.K. Lansana for bail. His previous request was turned down by the magistrate.
Mrs. Bangura is being tried on two counts of conspiracy and domestic violence contrary to law, as the prosecution alleged that on 17th August, at No.4 Pipe Line, Juba Hill, in Freetown, she conspired with her younger brother to commit a felony – domestic violence – and economically abused her spouse.
Principal State Prosecutor Monfred Sesay asked for an adjournment to allow him time to prepare and because one of the accused persons was not in court.
Matter continues in court.
