As it’s barely 30 days left for Sierra Leoneans to elect a new president, the Presidential Candidate for the Republic National Independent Party (ReNIP), Beresford Victor Williams, has promised to address the economic crisis in the country by creating a hybrid economic system.

He made the above promise on Wednesday 24th May, during a telephone interview.

Williams said he is running for the office of the presidency because he believes that the state of affairs in the country is nothing good to write home about, and that previous leaders have failed and mismanaged the resources of the country, leaving the nation as the least developed, poor nation in the world.

“In the area of economy, I am the right leader to take address the current economic mess as the country is facing the highest inflation with no price control and limited minimum wage. I also have the ability to reform the country and change the trajectory by creating a price control system, increasing the in minimum wage and above all creating a new economic system under the HYBRIDE ECONOMY,” he promised.

He said the new economic system will develop the country and helps to establish a more currency control, adding that as a president of the nation he will turn the economy around.

In the area of Gender Quality and Peace, Williams boasted that he is the only leader that can unite the country by brining everyone on board and be able to create a brand-new country.

He noted that he has absolute trust and belief in women hence he selected a woman as his running mate.

In the area of transforming the weak energy and infrastructure, he said if he wins the presidential election, in his first 100 days, he will reduce the rate of inflation, bring in price control mechanism and bring peace within the country.

In the area of food insufficient, Williams said he knows that agricultural development has a key role to play in generating the income needed to ensure food security, so as a president he will improve more on agriculture by encouraging youth to embark on farming and make sure that Sierra Leoneans have more food to eat.

He said the ReNIP manifesto that he will launch shortly, is a document that outlines the party’s plans and policies and that it would be divided into four sections: democracy and good governance, economic development, social justice and foreign policy.

“The ReNIP manifesto emphasizes the importance of democracy and good governance. The party believes that these are essential ingredients for economic development and social justice. ReNIP also advocates for a strong and independent judiciary, a free press, and an accountable government,” he said.

He also outlines the party’s economic policies and stated that government should play a role in stimulating economic growth and creating jobs, adding that the party also supports policies that will help to reduce poverty and inequality.

“ReNIP is committed to social justice. The party believes that all Sierra Leoneans should have equal opportunities, regardless of their race, gender, or social class. ReNIP also supports policies that will protect the environment and promote sustainable development. The ReNIP manifesto also outlines the party’s foreign policy because we believe that Sierra Leone should play an active role in international affairs. The party supports multilateralism and cooperation with other countries. ReNIP also believes that Sierra Leone should work to promote peace and security in the region,” he said.
