HR administrator testifies in over Le500m theft at Sierra Rutile

Second prosecution witness (PW2), George Musa Ansumana, who is the  Human Resource Administrator at Sierra Rutile Company, has testified before Magistrate Dr.Abou Bakar Binneh-Kamara of Siaka Steven court No., in an alleged theft matter involving one Bai Sheka Kamara and Claudius Williams.

PW2 recognised the accused persons as his colleagues, whom were all working at the finance department of the Company and recalled in November, 2016, when an internal audit was conducted, in which he was called upon to make a statement about his knowledge on the payroll processes.

He stated that statements were obtained from him and that he was aware that the audit report discovered some anomalies in the payroll processes.

The accused persons were charged with one count of conspiracy, nine counts of embezzlement and ten counts of Larceny by servant.

According to ASP Kamara, the accused persons on an unknown date between 1st January and September, 2016, at Sierra Rutile Company, Imperi Chiefdom,Moyamba District, conspired with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit embezzlement and embezzled over four hundred and sixty four million Leones being unaccounted salaries for casual workers at the company.

Also, the second accused allegedly stole the sum of four hundred and thirty four million Leones from the Company’s account by over stating his salary.

The matter was adjourned to 5th June, 2017.
