Ibrahim Ben Kargbo Jr., aspiring candidate of constituency 118 under the APC party ticket

Aspiring parliamentary candidate for Constituency 118 under the umbrella of the ruling All People’s Congress (APC) party, Ibrahim Ben Kargbo Jr. has stated that in the multitier elections slated for March 7, 2018, power will be in the hands of the grassroot, who would decide the various elective positions.

I.B Kargbo Jr. made the above statement on Sunday 25th September, 2017, while officially opening a newly constructed Ataya base at Texaco junction, Bai Bureh Road in Freetown.

“If politicians want to succeed in their political drive, they should always have in mind that it is the will of the grassroot that will give  them power,” he said.

According to him, the APC party believes in the concept of accepting the ideas of the grassroot and that it was because of that belief that he has been working to meet their expectations.

Kargbo Jr. said among his developmental activities, would be the construction of an Ataya base for Texaco Brotherhood Ataya Base Association, noting that it would help the youth and grassroot in the constituency to discuss politics and other issues of national concern.

He said the Ataya Base would also be used as a place to sensitize and convince first time voters to vote for the right people in the constituency.

The aspiring MP said he had engaged his constituents in a cleaning exercise as he has vowed to seriously embark on massive development in his constituency.

I.B Kargbo Jr. said people should change the negative perception about Ataya Bases, which he said could be ideal for social interactions.

“People should know that Ataya Base is not for idlers but a place to get social interaction and to discuss relevant issues,” he said.

Chairman of Texaco Ataya Base Brotherhood Association, Mohamed Bai Kamara, said the association was involved in youth development, adding that it membership consist of people from all walks of life.

Kamara said the total cost for the construction of the Ataya Base was seven million, five hundred thousand Leones (Le7,500,000), disclosing that Ibrahim Ben Kargbo Jr  was the sole sponsor of the construction exercise.

He said the association wholly depends on fines, contributions and support from the aspiring candidate in the constituency to embark on its development activities.
