Gay man remanded for murder

NOVEMBER 25, 2014 By Victoria Saffa

An openly gay man, Junior Kabba, alias Junior Homo, aka Emmanuel Kabba of No. 38 Mayenkineh Junction, Calaba Town, was yesterday remanded at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre for allegedly murdering one Kadiatu Conteh.

The accused was arraigned at the Ross Road Magistrates’ Court No.1 presided over by Magistrate Abubakarr Binneh Kamara.

According to police prosecutor Inspector Osman Minkailu Bangura, the accused on 2nd September 2014 stabbed his victim, a resident of No. 27 Main Motor Road, Calaba Town, at the Wellington Health Centre, east of Freetown.

However, Inspector Bangura told the court that Investigating Officer, Police Constable Mohamed Sesay of the Kissy Police Station had informed him that the accused denied the allegation of murder based on an alibi that he was with his mother at Ogoo Farm on the day of the alleged murder incident.

Inspector Bangura said he had obtained a statement from the accused person’s mother, who confirmed his version of events.

That notwithstanding, Inspector Bangura said a search warrant was marked Exhibit E, No.44 Main Motor Road, Calaba Town, and pointed at no other suspect in the alleged murder case than the accused.

The matter was adjourned to 1st December.
