Forest Green Rovers new boy promises energy in attack

Newly signed Forest Green Rovers forward, Amadou Bakayoko, has promised the League One side he will bring a lot of energy to their striking force.

The 27-year-old Sierra Leone international joined the English League One side for an undisclosed fee from Bolton Wanderers.

Bakayoko, who scored 17 goals in 67 appearances for the Whites after joining from Coventry City,is looking forward to replicating similar form he had with Bolton to the Green army.

He told the club’s website: “I’m happy to be here. I can’t wait for the second half of the season. I want to help the team as much as I can. And hopefully, I can get the best out of myself as well.”

“I will bring lots of energy. I’ll attack any balls that come into the box. Goals are everything for a striker.”

Forest Green is also hoping the forward will be a strong force in their attack and their Head of Performance & Recruitment, Stevie Grieve, said: “I am delighted to welcome Amadou to the club. He was our first choice for the position and we are excited to have secured his services for the foreseeable future.

“We hope his goalscoring ability, power and experience can help us in our push to win more games.”

Sierra Leone forward is not new to English football having played for the likes of Walsall, Coventry City and Bolton.

Bakayoko started his career at Walsall, where he earnt his first professional contract after impressing at the youth level.

In 2018, he joined League One side Coventry City on a permanent deal.

The striker made his senior international debut for Sierra Leone and scored his first goal against Liberia in March 2022.
