Five accused remanded for murder

Magistrate Albert Moody of Siaka Steven court No.2, yesterday (Monday 19th June, 2017) remanded one Sylvester Fonnie, Alusine Koroma, David Cole, Sheik Mohamed Koroma and Lovetta Cole for allegedly killing one Mohamed Kabba Kargbo.

The five accused persons were charged with two counts of conspiracy and murder contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

The prosecution alleged that the accused persons on a date between 6th and 9th April this year at Metchem, Goderich, conspired to commit a felony to wit murder.

The prosecution said the accused persons on the same date at Metchem, Goderich, murdered the deceased.

The defence Lawyers include, Hannah I. Ahmed, A Conteh and M.Y. Kanu.

The lead council, Lawyer Ahmed, told the court that the accused persons have been incarcerated for over a month without being charge to court for trail, adding that it was against their fundamental human rights.

She stated that the offences for which the accused persons were charged were bailable and that the charges were mere allegations until proven by the court.

The matter was prosecuted by inspector S. Conteh and the matter was adjourned to Wednesday 21st June, 2017.
