Fambul Tok International-Sierra Leone has extolled the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) Yellow Ribbon Campaign to end Ebola in the country.

During a courtesy call on Fambul Tok’s country office in Freetown on March 20, SLAJ president Kelvin Lewis said the campaign symbolizes the commitment of individuals, groups and institutions taking action to end Ebola in Sierra Leone and across the region.

“It represents a commitment to protect yourself, your family and your country by changing dangerous behaviors and adopting key activities,” he said and highlighted four key campaign messages which organizations, institutions or groups should be committed to, including safe burials, reporting the sick, and isolating people who may have come into contact with Ebola patients for 21 days.

“If we want our children to go back to school we have to work together to end Ebola now,” Mr. Lewis emphasized.

In his brief statement, Director of Training, Fambul Tok International, Rev. Emmanuel Ballah Mansaray, mentioned the role the organisation continues to play in the fight against Ebola in the country.

He noted that the hand-washing campaign that was launched last year by the organisation is still ongoing, backed with the supply of soap making machines and distribution of soap and information, education and communication materials to various communities.

Rev. Mansaray also spoke about the lead role being played by Fambul Tok in collaboration with other organizations to form the Bridging Communities Network (BCN) – a response strategy to information management in communities.
