APC has no intention to expel Hon.Mohamed Bangura

National Publicity of the main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC), Cornelius Deveaux, has debunked social media claims that the party would soon expel Hon.Mohamed Bangura and permanently delete his membership.

Hon.Mohamed Bangura is the former Minister of Information and Communications under the Ernest Bai Koroma APC regime. He was one of the opposition Members of Parliament that were petitioned and prevented from participating in the election of the Speaker of Parliament. He was allegedly beaten by some members of the Sierra Leone Police in the Well of Parliament and was subsequently hospitalised.

According to Social media claims, the APC Publicity Secretary, Cornelius Deveaux, was on the African Young Voices Television where he disclosed that a formal letter indicating the expulsion of the party’s Member of Parliament would be handed to the latter in due course.

It was also stated on several WhatsApp fora that the threat to expel Bangura came amid recent statement in which he stated that the APC was responsible for the 2018 post-election violence that engulfed the entire country.

However, speaking to Concord Times through his mobile phone, Cornelius Deveaux charged that the claim was baseless and unfounded, adding that people should discountenance what was circulated on social media.

‘That is just a social media joke. It is a complete false and people should not fall for what is being circulated on social media. We have no intention to expel Hon.Mohamed Bangura from the party,’ he said.
