Exhibits officer attached to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Freetown has tendered twenty-six bags of assorted copper wire in court before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of the Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown.
The accused was before the court on one count charge of larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
It was alleged that the accused, Sheku Bah Conteh, on Wednesday, 26th January 2022, at the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) Substation in Bo, stole quality copper cables valued one hundred and forty seven million, three hundred and sixty thousand Leones, property of EDSA.
Prosecution witness No.4, Detective Sergeant 8576, Issa Kamara, attached at the exhibit office,CID headquarters in Freetown, stated that some of his duties were to ensure the registration and safe keeping of all exhibits brought into the station relating to matters under investigations.
He recalled on the 11 day of February, 2022 when detective Sergeant 10109, Francis A.J.B, attached to the EDSA unit, CID headquarters in Freetown handed over to him twenty six bags of assorted copper wire, one vehicle and a switch key with registration number AWl 923.
He further stated that the said exhibits were registered against their court exhibits book with serial number 19/2022,and the said exhibits have been in the custody of the police.
The exhibits were produced and tendered in court as exhibits E-1-26 for the coloured bags containing the copper wire.
Defense counsel M. Bangura renewed his bail application but Magistrate Kekura refused and remanded the accused.
Magistrate Kekura adjourned the matter to the 21 April, 2022.
