ERFA Chairman refutes congress boycott rumours

DECEMBER 18, 2014 By Sahr Morris Jr.

Chairman of the Eastern Region Football Association (ERFA), Morrison Sannoh, has moved to swiftly dismiss rumours that delegates from his region are planning to boycott the planned December 20 extra-ordinary congress by football stakeholders.

According to Sannoh, all delegates from the Eastern Region will be in full attendance at the Siaka Stevens Stadium in Freetown, and that “rumours of a boycott are all false” and deliberately spread to create confusion in the minds of determined stakeholders.

“Such false alarms are no longer strange to us, but these people cannot distract us. As a regional body, we will be in Freetown for the congress and also play our own role towards the Ebola symposium, which will commence before the congress,” Sannoh said.

The ERFA chairman, who is an executive member of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), is one of the key stakeholders pushing for the December 20 congress to go as planned. He re-echoed his colleagues’ stance that the extra-ordinary congress should go ahead with or without the approval of FIFA.

He said: “We are going there on Saturday to make a complete change and bring unity to our football. It is time for us as stakeholders to vent out all our differences and map the way forward for the development of football in this country.”
