DECEMBER 11, 2014

The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that Ebola deaths in West Africa have risen to 6,388 out of 17,942 cases as of December 7 principally due to new infections in Sierra Leone.

While the country has overtaken Liberia in terms of numbers of cases – 7,897 against 7,719 – it has reported only 1,768 deaths against 3,177, according to WHO figures.

Minister of Health and Sanitation, Dr. Abu Bakarr Fofanah, attended a WHO meeting on Ebola in Geneva yesterday where the global health body made the claim.
