Domestic violence matter discharged

Magistrate Albert Moody of Court No. 2 yesterday cautioned and discharged a matter of domestic violence involving Hassan Pujeh and his wife, Sallay Pujeh.

The accused persons were earlier charged with two counts of domestic violence, contrary to law.

The prosecution alleges that on Sunday, 22nd May, 2016, at Upper Brook Street in Freetown, one of the accused persons, Sallay Pujeh, physically abused her neighbor, Tidankay Jabbie.

“On the same date and place, one of the accused persons, Hassan Pujeh, also physically abused Tidankay’s husband, Idrissa Debor Karim,” the prosecution continues.

Delivering his ruling, Magistrate Moody said what happened between the accused persons and the complainant was mutual.

Magistrate Moody said he was discharging the matter based on the evidence before him and with reference to section 2(1) of the Domestic Violence Act 2007.

“Whatever might have happened was mutual.The problem was on both sides,” he said.

Magistrate Moody said it was clear that the accused persons overpowered by the complainants.
