Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee have urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to adhere to the recommendations made by the committee on the consolidated report of the account of the 2016 Audit report.

Hon. Solomon Segepoh Thomas made the pronouncement at the laying of the consolidated report of the Auditor General on the Account of Ministries, departments and Agencies and local councils for the financial year ending, 2016.

He stated that for the past years, many recommendations have been made and reports have been published for MDAs that were found wanting of the queries made in the reports, but nothing has been done in that direction.

“I want you all to know that this time around we will not allow such behaviour. We want you to treat our recommendations seriously as we have made several recommendations that needed to be acted upon. We will be going out there to check if these recommendations are followed. Many reports have been tabled in parliament on the past Audit reports, but nothing tangible has been done. We hope you take it seriously,” he urged.

Meanwhile, Hon. Dr. Mark Mahmoud Kalokoh raised a notice of motion on Standing Order 25 for the 2016 Audit General’s report resolutions made by the Public Accounts Committee, to be debated immediately.
