The elective congress of the Sierra Leone National Cycling Association (SLNCA), which was slated for Sunday January 25, has been postponed indefinitely.
According to a source close to the SLNCA, there are several reasons not limited to the electoral issues that have prompted the deferment of the congress.
Earlier, SLNCA president Winston D.C. Crowther told journalists that the delay in conducting the nominations could lead to the postponement of the congress.
“According to the association’s constitution, all nomination forms should be completed three weeks to election. Chapter 3 article 9(7) states that nomination for office must be submitted at least 21 days to congress by two fully paid up members. This could not be fulfilled because there were some problems,” he said.
Crowther, who is seeking another term at the helm, believes the postponement of the congress will give all would-be candidates and stakeholders enough time to prepare for the event.
However, the next date for the congress is yet to be announced.
