Magistrate Hannah Bonnie, presiding at court No.1 yesterday granted leave to Hon. Shiaka Sama, an independent Member of Parliament in Constituency 104,Pujehun District, to attend the ECOWAS Session from the 5th to the 16th March, 2019.
Hon. Sama and thirteen others are before the lower court on twenty-four count charges. They were denied bail on their maiden appearance, but were put on bail on their subsequent appearance.
His Counsel, Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, yesterday made an application to allow him attends the ECOWAS Parliamentary session in Nigeria.
However, Magistrate Bonnie ordered the lawyer that all documents pertaining to his travelling must be tendered before the court.
He also informed the court that the other accused persons were none resident of Freetown and that they were coming way off from Sahn Malen, Pujehun district.
He appealed that the Bench grant long adjournment so that they would return to their village, as most of them were spending huge sums of money on lodging and feeding.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bonnie granted the application and adjourned the matter to Monday, March 18, 2019.
Hon. Shiaka Sama and some of his constituents were charged with 24 counts ranging from conspiracy, robbery with aggravation, store breaking and larceny, wounding, assault on police, kidnapping, publication of false news, inciting and riotous conduct, unlawful procession, riotous conduct, disorderly behavior, attempted kidnapping to malicious damage.
