Convict to spend 24 months in jail

After spending one year in prison,  19 years old Steven Boga was  on Wednesday 4th August, 2021, sentenced to 24 months imprisonment by Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No.2 after being convicted on a count charge of larceny contrary to Section(2) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

It was alleged that, Steven Bonga sometimes in October 2020, at Talking Drum Studio, Tengbeh Town, Freetown, did steal one Stefen Honda Generator 16.5 KVA valued eighteen million, five hundred thousand Leones (Le 18, 500,000),plus eight rubbers baller fuel valued one million, four hundred thousand Leones (Le 1,400,000), all total to the sum of nineteen million, nine hundred thousand Leones (Le 19, 900,000), property of the said studio, which was in the custody of the Admin Officer.

Before he was sentenced to prison, Magistrate Ngegba asked the convict whether he had anything to say. He  made a plea of mitigation, stating that he was a first time offender and had been in prison for a couple of months, adding that he had learnt his lesson.

However, Magistrate Ngegba looked at the seriousness of the offense and sentenced him for 24 months.
