The Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone yesterday presented four sets of 80 square metres tents for victims of the 16 September flooding disaster that overran parts of the capital, Freetown.

Handing over the consignment, Secretary to the Political Section of the embassy, Guo Xin, said the mission was sensitive to the plight of the flood victims, hence they decided to provide tents to shelter thousands who had sought refuge at the National Stadium.

The consignment of tents was received by Deputy Secretary in the Office of the Vice President, Joseph Thornton, who acknowledged that the Chinese Embassy has contributed immensely both to the development of Sierra Leone and in times of crisis.

He promised that the tents would be used for their intended purpose.

Meanwhile, wife of the Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Mao Xuehong, earlier provided the sum of US$2,000 to First Lady Sia Nyama Koroma, for the flood victims.
