Child kidnapper stands trial at High Court

Thirty-one-year-old Haja Fatmata Dankay Kallon of 3 Mansaray Lane, Wellington Street, in Freetown, is currently standing trial in the High Court on one count charge of kidnapping contrary to law.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge, which was read in court during the call over session presided over by Mr. Justice John Bosco Allieu.

In the particulars of offence, the accused on 13 April, 2017 secretly and unlawfully carry a child, Isata Lissa without the consent of her biological mother, Nema Lissa.

The matter is being prosecuted by State Counsel, Y. S. Koroma, while the accused person is not represented by a lawyer.

The accused was tried by Magistrate M. Seray-Wurie of the Ross Road Magistrate Court No 1 on preliminary investigations before the matter convicted to the High Court on 30 June, 2017.

The accused was remanded at the Pademba Road Correctional Centre and the matter adjourned to 12 October, 2017 for trial to commence.
