Chamber of Commerce exhibition commences today

The annual Sierra Leone Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture exhibition is set to commence today, according to the president, Mrs. Gladys Strasser-King.

Speaking to media practitioners at her 51 Big Waterloo Street Office yesterday, she disclosed that the event will be hosted at the National Stadium car park in Freetown, adding that the theme for this year’s exhibition is “Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Development: The way forward to wealth creation and natural prosperity.

She said that the exhibition, which will run until 26 April, will further lend credence to the fact that the country is calm, friendly and peaceful and that Serra Leoneans can share with others their artistic skills.

She said numerous local and foreign participants will participate in this year’s event, just as in previous years, and that the exhibition will the longest duration in the history of trade fairs organised by the chamber of commerce.

Madam Strasser-King said the event will showcase creativity as the theme implies, as small and medium enterprises will be inspired to compete with their foreign counterparts, and disclosed that the Export 2014 will also be introduced in October this year as many countries have participated in the trade fair, as well as both private and public businesses in the country.

Meanwhile, she disclosed that free medical treatment will be provided to victims of epilepsy, diabetes and cancer during the exhibition, thanks to sponsorship by Standard Chartered Bank and London Mining Company.
