Simbo’s Al Hilal to face TP Mazembe

Sierra Leone defender David Simbo and his Sudanese side Al Hilal will face TP Mazembe of DR Congo, Smouha of Egypt and Morocco’s Moghreb Tetouan in Group A of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions mini-League group phase.

The draw, which was conducted on Tuesday in the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, also pitched three Algerian sides – ES Setif, USM Alger and MC Eulma – in Group B, which also includes El Merreikh of Sudan.

The draw was conducted by the CAF General Secretary, Hicham El Amrani and assisted by 1st Vice President Suketu Patel, 2nd Vice President Almamy Kabele Camara, and CAF Executive Committee member Mohamed Raouaraoua.

Simbo, whose Al Hilal side progressed to the 2015 CAF Champions League group stages after eliminating DR Congo’s SM Sanga Balende 2-0 on aggregate last Sunday, is hopeful they will better improve this season in the continental stage.

He said: “We are targeting continental glory this season and I want to help the club to go as far as possible this year.”
